The 16th Annual Hospital Gala, an Evening in the Maritimes, raised over $70,000 in support of surgical equipment at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH), enabling OSMH to purchase an anaesthetic gas machine. Hosted by the OSMH Foundation and Casino Rama Resort on Friday, October 13th, funds were raised through ticket sales, sponsorship, and a live and silent auction.

“What an incredible evening at Casino Rama Resort,” said Lorraine Bergeron, Chair, 2017 Gala Committee. “I could not be more proud of the OSMH Foundation Gala Committee and the teamwork involved in planning this event, as well as the sponsors, donors and attendees who made it such a success.”

The Foundation currently has more than $1 Million in surgical equipment needs including the replacement of nine anaesthetic gas machines and a urology fluoroscopy table. These pieces of equipment are all at the end of their useful life.

“Thanks to our amazing supporters, we are now one-step closer to ensuring the best possible surgical equipment is available to our dedicated healthcare team at OSMH,” said Mark Riczu, Executive Director, OSMH Foundation. “Events like our annual Hospital Gala really go a long way to improving patient care.”

Since it began in 2002, the Hospital Gala has raised more than $800,000 in support of the hospital’s greatest needs. In previous years, the gala has supported the Paediatric/NICU renovations, the Electronic Medical Record system, cancer care and vital equipment purchases at OSMH.
