Orillia’s 35TH PERCH FESTIVAL April 18th to May 9th, 2015 WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT? One of the largest fishing derbies in North America, the Orillia Perch Festival, will again kick off the beginning of the open water fishing season in Canada this spring. Unique in that anglers of all ages participate as contestants makes this event very popular. The concept: that fishing is a sport that one can do at any age with anybody any age is the ideology behind this event. The memories can last a life time and it bridges generations like few other activities. Our philosophy is to get more and more families and friends to participate in this great outdoor event with the opportunity to experience and enjoy it as an affordable quality time sport. Great event for the whole family with adult and kid's prize categories. Thousands of dollars in cash and product prizes. Annually averages almost 4,000 anglers 20% are kids under 16 years of age 70% are anglers from over a 20km distance Averages 2.3 fishing days per angler 3 week duration falling on 4 weekends for 22 fishing days Over 12,000 perch returned in "live release" program every year Perch fishing has been popular in Lakes Simcoe & Couchiching for many years. These frequently caught pan fish are found in huge schools in the Orillia area during the spring thaw. Any Angler can Win! If you can hold a fishing pole, you can catch a perch. With a high ratio of winners there is lots of excitement added to this fun adventure. At any age, it's a great way to start your fishing season. Please contact us at anytime for more information.
