Abused Raccoon found in Barrie, dies
A baby raccoon that was found with severe burns in Barrie over the summer has died at the Proycon Wildlife Sanctuary near Beeton.
Staff at the centre say the raccoon was doing well. They had named her Phoenix Rose and she appeared to be on the way to recovery.
But last week, she was found dead–they are not sure of the actual cause of death.
Barrie police are continuing their animal cruelty investigation and there is a 15 hundred dollar reward for information in the case.
The animal was found in Barrie’s Huronia North Park on August 6th. Police believe she had been doused with a flammable liquid and set ablaze.
