Barrie police have been canvassing an apartment building at 101 Kozlov street, as they investigate the murder of a 50 year old woman.
Detectives believe the victim and the killer knew each other, but they have no-one in custody.
Officers were called just before three Tuesday morning after someone heard a shot fired. They found a woman with no vital signs suffering from a serious wound– she was pronounced dead in hospital. In addition to the door to door canvass of the neighborhood, police have also been searching around the apartment building.

Investigators now believe the victim and the suspect were known to one another; although at this time do not have anyone in custody.

The 50-year-old victim has been transported to the Ontario Center for Forensic Science (CFS). A forensic post-mortem is schedule for Wednesday, March 15, which will determine the cause of death.

Investigators will be canvassing the building at 101 Kozlov Street, and surrounding area. Police will be utilizing the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) in conjunction with a ground search of the perimeter.

The Barrie Police Homicide Unit is currently investigating a homicide that occurred at 101 Kozlov Street, in the City of Barrie.

On Tuesday, March 14, at 2:41 a.m., police received a 9-1-1 call reporting there had been a shooting inside 101 Kozlov Street. When officers arrived they located a 50-year-old woman with vital signs absent and suffering from a serious wound. The woman was transported to hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

At this time, the investigation is in its preliminary stages and the victim’s identity will not be released until the next of kin has been notified.
