Child Dies After Canoe Overturns on Muskoka River
An 8-year old child has died after a boating accident on the Muskoka River. Bracebridge OPP along with emergency crews were called to the river near High Falls yesterday afternoon after reports that a man and a child had overturned their canoe and were thrown into the water. Police located the man but the child was unaccounted for. They eventually found they boy, who although was wearing a life jacket, had gone over the falls and succumbed to his injuries. Police have now charged 37-year old David Sillars of Etobicoke with Impaired Operation of a Vessel Causing Death. He’ll be in court in may to answer to the charges.
