County Health Unit Says 70k People Can't Afford Healthy Food Options
Thousands of people go without fresh or healthy food simply because they can’t afford it.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit says around 70,000 people can’t afford to buy healthy food without giving up those funds from something else, like rent or car payments.
Typically one in eight households won’t know where their next meal is going to come from. People will then supplement their groceries by visiting the Food Bank and taking advantage of the many donations that have come in.
The SMDHU has more info on their Cent$less campaign.
