Getting Festive in KICX Country
With all the shopping, cleaning, baking, decorating, wrapping… sometimes you need a bit of help to feel festive at Christmas time.
Here are five ways to get into the Christmas spirit in KICX Country.
Check out these spectacular decorated trees and ornaments in Midland/Penetanguishene. You can find the trees at three different locations – Midland Cultural Centre, Huronia Mall, Village Square Mall – and once you see one that you like, you can purchase raffle tickets for the chance to take it home!
If a real tree is more your style – you can pick one out at a tree lot (might we suggest the Springwater Firefighters lot in Midhurst) or you can make it an event at a place like Drysdale’s Tree Farm.

Downtown Orillia is offering free horse and wagon rides to help you get into the spirit – and as an added bonus – it’s a free ride!
For more on what Christmas was like in the past – you can check out Christmas, Past and Present at the Simcoe County Museum.
First Light at Sainte Marie among the Hurons – is one of the top rated attractions in the province. The historic site is alight with more than 5,000 candles – and the evening includes artisans, live entertainment, demonstrations, crafts and even fireworks (Thursday nights only).
Lots of things for kids to do – including learning to use a quill pen (below)
And for those who need to have a chat with Santa – the South Simcoe Railway invites you to hop aboard The Santa Express to meet with the big man himself.
