I’m sure you’ve seen this. A family is out for a bike ride and while the children have a bike helmet on, often the adults don’t. Most of us understand the importance of a bike helmet and some adults do wear them, but for those that don’t it’s normally a matter of they don’t like how they look in one.
Anna Haupt and Terese Altin have the solution. It’s the invisible bike helmet. It’s basically an airbag collar that’s triggered by abnormal movement. When the airbag inflates the now invisible helmet becomes quite visible as it surrounds the head.
I’ve got to give them brownie points for thinking about how to get more people to wear helmets, but I find it a bit funny how they used a beautiful model in a dress to show off this invention. I’ve seen many people with and without helmets, but I’ve yet to see a woman that looks like this on any kind of bike.
