National Fire Prevention Week: Do You Know How To Escape Your Home?
Easy and most logical answer is to make sure you have working smoke and CO2 alarms in your home. They should be checked (at least) twice a year, usually around the time when you change your clocks. If the Fire Department catches you without working alarms in your home you’re at risk of being fined $350 for each missing/defunct alarm.
Do you have an escape plan? This year’s theme to NFPW is “Every Second Counts, Plan 2 Ways Out”. Meaning, do you know two ways out of your bedroom or basement if there was a fire? Where are you meeting your family once you’re out? These are all things that everyone living in your home should know about the escape plan.
You can take a quick quiz to test your fire escape knowledge, and find some handy tips on the NFPW website to help your family be their safest from here on out.
