A new $10 banknote is to be released this year.

The new purple bill features pictures of some notable Canadians including the father of confederation Sir Georges Etienne Cartier, Agnes MacPhail who was Canada’s first female parliament member, as well as Canada’s first indigenous leader James Gladstone and of course Sir John A MacDonald.

The back of the note features Canadian landscapes that include the Lions and Capilano Lake from British Columbia, Prairie wheat fields, the Canadian Shield as seen in Quebec and the northern lights as they would be seen in Wood Buffalo National Park. There’s even a holographic version of Owl’s Bouquet

There’s a holographic rendering of Owl’s Bouquet, a stonecut and print originally made by the late Inuit artist Kenojuak Ashevak, in the note’s window underneath Canada’s coat of arms and flag.

The new ten dollar note will be available at financial institutions June 1st.
