The City of Orillia’s Commemorative Awards Committee is seeking nominees for induction into Orillia’s Hall of Fame. The deadline for nominations is Friday, Aug. 11, 2017.

Since 1966, more than 40 noteworthy past and present residents have been inducted into the Orillia Hall of Fame, including Glenn Gould, Gertrude Mulcahy, Stephen Leacock, and Don Tapscott. Inductees have found success in such areas as the arts, sports, philanthropy, and politics.

“For a relatively small city, Orillia has produced more than its share of outstanding individuals who have been honoured for their national and international contributions. We can be very proud of these accomplishments,” said Paul Raymond, Chair of the Commemorative Awards Committee.

The Hall of Fame does not have annual induction ceremonies as the committee looks for inductees based on the quality of applications, rather than quantity. The committee is looking for nominations of outstanding past and present residents to mark Orillia’s sesquicentennial in 2017.

The official nomination package is available on the City’s website orillia.ca/halloffame, and at the Orillia City Centre, 50 Andrew St. S.
