Child dies in house fire near Stayner
A child died in a house fire near Stayner Thursday night. OPP say four people escaped the flames but a seven year old boy could not get out in time.
The house is on Highway 26, just west of Sunnidale corners. The OPP and the office of the Fire Marshall are investigating.

At approximately 8:50pm on July 13, 2017, emergency crews were called to attend to a house fire on Highway 26, near County Road 10 in Clearview Township. Upon arrival it was found that 4 occupants of the home were able to make it safely out of the residence which was now fully engulfed. Emergency crews were advised that one occupant, a 7 year-old boy, was still trapped inside.
Despite rescue efforts by first responders and persons at scene, the victim could not make it out and died in the house fire.
A post mortem examination has been scheduled for coming days at the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS) in Toronto and the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) is investigating.
