July 22: 2nd Annual Downtown Midland Road Basketball Game

Come down to Downtown Midland for the 2nd Annual Downtown Midland Road Basketball Game!
FREE and open to people of all ages – kids are welcome. The street will be closed off from Elizabeth Street to Hugel Avenue. An open net will be available for shooting (bring your own basketball), and 2 nets will be available for a fun pick-up game. FREE pizza from Papas Pizza Mamas Chicken will be available at 3pm after the Road Basketball Game.

FREE event! The Midland Cultural Centre has opened the doors to Rotary Hall for local performers to come and jam every other Monday night. We have a house drum kit available, our A/V tech volunteers running the sound (amps and mics), and lights so performers get the full, onstage experience. Doors open and load in at 7:30. We usually have a host band that opens the night and then it is first come, first serve to sign up to play a 15 min set. This is a licensed event and munchies will be available as well. Audience size ranges from 30-80 people.

“It’s Councillor Cody Oschefski’s 3rd Annual Floatie Fest & Scary Movie On The Lake! It is a free and fun event for the whole family! August 5: Pirates of the Bay Festival

“Walk the plank and join the pirate crew for great family fun!  Roving hornswaggler musicians, meet Captain Jack Sparrows look-a-like and visit the tattoo parlour (face paint), learn yer knots and swab the deck!  Be on the lookout for a Pirate Skirmish with the HMS Badger and Historic Military Establishments of Upper Canada will fire off the candy canon. Shuttles will move visiting Pirates between the town dock in Penetanguishene and Discovery Harbour”

September 16: Ontario Tree Climbing Championship

“The OTCC features 5 preliminary events: a work climb, belayed speed climb, simulated aerial rescue, foot-lock style rope climb and throwline challenge. The top 4 men and top 2 women competitors from the preliminaries advance to the Master’s Challenge, a final event where the Ontario Men’s and Women’s Champion are crowned. These 2 top climbers go on to compete at the International Tree Climbing Championship the following summer. Spectators are welcome to attend this free event. A trade show of arborist equipment is featured and spectators can try climbing like an arborist in the “Climb For All Ages” under the guidance of a professional arborist”.
