Hwy 11 north of Orillia re-opened early this morning after a serious head on crash last night involving a wrong way driver. The OPP shut down the northbound lanes between Soules Rd and Brennan Line near Cumberland Beach after a vehicle going southbound collided head on with two other cars.
Witness accounts indicate that five people were hurt, including two people who were trapped inside the wreckage. The air ambulance was called to the scene. No names have been released, and no word on their conditions today.
There are reports that the wrong way driver may have been kicked out of a nearby Tim Hortons after causing a disturbance, and had been drinking. That has not been confirmed by police.
Orillia OPP are looking for witnesses. Anyone who may have observed the vehicle or the collision are asked to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
